Letters to Mom N.

An old article...

Two weeks had been passing. To follow the repair of the new home of OBV's children, the supervisor of OBV's house, whom the kids love to call mommy, could not be beside them to take care of them. However, Mommy talked to kids on the phone every day.The kids wrote these letters sealed with love to Mommy.

"Mommy, I don't know which major to choose from. Tell me please, which one? Besides, I have to fill the blank of Father's name in identity documents. But I don't know what to write in there. What should I do? How's it going Mommy? Come back to us soon, Mommy. Love you, T."

"Mommy, how are you? Don't worry for us. You should eat a lot. If you look too thin, we will make you eat twice. I wish you a lot of health and peace. We love you. Your daughter, H."

"I miss you so much, Mommy. I hope you will be always healthy and peaceful in God's love. I apologize for making you disappointed. Remember to take care of yourself. I really want that time will come soon when you finish your work and come back to us. I miss you so much that I can't enjoy meal every day, whether it's delicious or not. Your daughter, H".

"Mommy, I love you and miss you so much! D and I now have become the most mischievous ones. Come back to us soon, Mommy ^^. Your daughter, M."

"Do you miss me, Mommy? Please take care of yourself. I did well in the play Tam Cam. When you come home, I will act again. Love you. Your daughter, Đ"

"Mommy, despite summer vacation, I still read books, do Math homework and study at home. My sore throat has gone. I'm fine now. You, too Mommy! Your daughter, Ha".

"Mommy, my summer has been coming. It's a little sad not to go to school in the morning. But it's good to be home for a longer time. I have almost finished reading a book and learning the multiplication table. Please remember to take care of yourself and eat a lot. I dream of you every night, Mommy. Your daughter, Ky."

"Do you miss us, Mommy? Although I have just come here, I love you so much, Mommy. Please remember to take care of yourself and don't work too much, Mommy! I'm waiting to see you. Ms. L. will take me to the dentist. Then I will be confident to smile. That's good. I love you. Your daughter, S."

"I miss you so much, Mommy. Please remember to take care of yourself. When you come home, we will massage you, OK? This evening I got an X. I'm sorry, Mommy. Please don't be sad about that. Love you! Your daughter, N."

"How are you, Mommy? When will you come home? We miss you so much. Now I am learning hard and not watching films too much. I am going to finish my embroidery design. Will you come to see me this Sunday in the exam for an upper level of Aikido? I hope you will. Good night, Mommy. I miss you and love you so much. Your daughter, G."

"I miss you so much, Mommy! You, too right? Please go to bed early. And take care of yourself, too. I've heard that you are not having good meals. Please eat good food. If you don't, you will be thin and sick. I miss you so much. All I want is going there beside you. Kiss you, Mommy. Your daughter, Hg."

Where the deepest misery was

An old article...

At 5 A.M. on May 06, 2011, we left Can Tho for C. province. We were very lucky to meet Mr. and Mrs. Nam who voluntarily took us there after they heard about our work. The place we were going to go to is the farthest area of C. province. We went there to see a family which also held the deepest misery. That's why we called this place: where the deepest misery was.

After a 6-hour trip to that place, I pictured in my mind a village rounded by green mangrove forest and lots of canals. At the moment we departed, a good song about this land ran out the radio. It was about strangers who come here the first time with lots of feelings.

An old article...

It was raining outside – July's specific rain – but K. and I were ready for our trip because there were lots of things to do. The new academic year was coming but identity documents of S. hadn't been confirmed yet. We had to go to her hometown to get everything ready. Besides, taking two new kids to OBV's house was also urgent because the new academic year was about to begin. (These two kids are siblings. They were abused by the same man who was recently sentenced to 18 years in prison.) There was another 15 year-old girl in Can Tho. She was abused by her stepfather. After giving birth, she left hospital in silence because she didn't have enough money to pay for her stay there.

A day in the OBV home

An old article...

Our home

It had been two months since the repair and reopening of the OBV Home. A number of issues arised while dealing with the kids, some relating to house chores such as a broken water pump, some involving other stories such as skipping school for abdominal pain, not understanding the courses, etc. I thought: "Oh my God, we only have four kids in the house and everything is just a mess, if we had forty, what would happen then? Hopefully we will get more experience as we go."

Our Weekend

OBV welcomed new member

As usual, our kids did not have classes on Saturday morning, so they didn't have to study yesterday evening. Instead, they had some fun activities. Because they knew there was meteor shower early in the morning, they woke up on 2 A.M. to wait for it. But they didn't see any meteor. So they came back to bed. Mother N. let them sleep for 30 minutes more to compensate for the sleep last night.

As we had discussed with A.P's family, they decided to take her to OBV. However, because she was taking her exam, they were afraid that she would be homesick on the first days that may have a negative impact on her learning. OBV's supervisor said that OBV wished to see her after her exam. This morning, her family took her to our house. When her parents leave for home, she stayed here and played with other kids.

Mr. Sy also came here today. As a psychologist, he understands our kids clearly. Our kids loved his humanity class because besides lessons, he also had some games and good songs. A.P got along well with other kids in these activities. The song "Noi mot vong trong" (Be in a circle) made her shyness disappear and she began to introduce herself.

Psychologist Pham Sy taught kids in OBV

While we were having lunch, Ms. Kim Vy came to our house as she said last weekend. She brought two big watermelons and delicious flan cakes just for us. Our kids said: "As Ms. Kim Vy looks tomboy, we didn't think she's very good at cooking". That's the way it goes. There are still a lot of surprises, kids. Although she looks so, she always comes to us with a big heart.

Ms. Kim Vy with a very big heart.

Our weekend had a lot of memorable activities. It became just perfect as our kids prepared to go to the Church this evening.
