Open M

Sometimes I'll receive messages from acquaintances, and other times from complete strangers. Some share stories of happiness in their lives, while others are deeply immersed in sadness... some share stories of their past sexual abuse, of being a sex slave... In those moments, I can only say 'Thank you for sharing your story'.

In a seminar organized by Open M. yesterday, to discuss of the work done to help the survivors, I said just that. Thank you, for sharing your stories of overcoming the darkest period of your lives. Of continuing to succeed in your lives and in turn helping other survivors.

Thank you, for holding hands with the mother of a victim who was not as strong and chose to end her life. Thank you for continuing to walk hand in hand with the families of victims still in search for justice. Thank you for staying until the very last minute to listen to other stories. Thank you. Because #MeToo.

It was a bittersweet moment for all participants of this remarkable event.

Although we still will hear many more countless stories like these in our lifetime to come, we find solace that there are some places that offer peace. We are proud that OBV is one of these peaceful places.
