Everybody in the office told each other: “Behave yourself! The new chairwoman might be tough.” We were so nervous and assumed she might be a difficult person after we had received a bunch of her emails requesting us to send reports and annotations. Nobody knew about her, how old she was, how she looked like and whether she was difficult as we thought.
Our first meeting with the new Chairwoman, Dr. Thanh Tam finally took place. Her modest clothing and her smiling gave us the first impression that she was a humble person. Her plane just landed but she stopped by the office anyway for the meeting, carrying a lot of luggage.
She is so friendly and sympathetic with a smiling face
Once again, Lunar New Year of the Rooster 2017 is here upon us.

OBV continues to educate others on the definition of child sex trafficking and sex trafficking.(1)

"Thank you" is not sufficient. OBV deeply appreciates all of you, each and everyone of you. May the good things in life be yours always, on Thanksgiving and throughout the year.

Almost one year ago, we had the opportunity to come to Cồn Bà (province of Tiền Giang) in a parenting session offered to local population. At that time, we were really impressed with the nature, the life and the people of the area. Probably, nice memories of that first encounter had drawn us to Cồn Bà again. That time, the same people with some sort of innocence and genuine kindness continue to surprise us and to leave unforgettable emotions within our hearts.
Tân Thạnh school was where the first parenting session will be taking place. Like in other previous sessions, we came early to prepare rooms and to set up computer, screen and projector necessary for the teaching. Several stories, a lot of memories during the whole session had left long lasting marks in our mind.

To prepare for the project of the OBV House for boys suffering from sexual exploitation, OBV has visited and shared experience of taking care of the boys at Son Ky Orphanage where nearly 50 boys who have difficult circumstances need help.
Entering the house, we were surprised at the boys' neatness and tidiness.

OBV has just welcomed two guests: Ms. Nhu Loan - singer of Thuy Nga Music Center and Tram Vo. They are those who has the same desire to help the children with unlucky circumstances, to visit and communicate with them.
During the conversation, Ms. Nhu Loan asked the children , "What do you want to do in the future?"
A girl has a dream to be a teacher, one wants to be an architect, another wants to work on Art area, one who admires Ms. N. – the nun who manages OBV, wants to be a nun in the future. The most impressive dream is the dream of a small seven-year-old girl who has just been brought to OBV: "I want to be a police officer to ... revenge..." an innocent dream however it reveals the hatred of a little girl, or a girl wants to be a doctor to treat her mom. What Ms. Nhu Loan talked sincerely to the children is even more touching "When I was a little girl, I didn't know how to dream so just until now I can do what I really want to do. You have to learn to dream, when you have dream, you have a target to strive for and you will succeed more easily.
Everyone was loath to part each other, hope to meet you two again in the near future.

Only 2 children in the OBV house are Catholics; the rest follow different religions, but they all enjoy going to Mass on Sundays. Management arranged for the group to sing as a choir, which made the audience enjoy Mass even more.
After Mass, the OBV children were very excited to receive gifts from volunteers, including clothes from the US.

Father Joseph giving a short speech.
On June 2011, OBV and the Bridge to Happiness Center opened a new office in Nguyen Van Dau, 11th ward, District Binh Thanh in Ho Chi Minh City. Attendees of the opening ceremony included OBV and Bridge to Happiness Center members and 50 guests and collaborators.
At 6pm, the blessing ceremony was performed by Father Joseph Xua of My Chanh and Vinh Long. Everyone joined in prayer for the new office to become a place of love. Through the works of everyone in the office, that love will spread to everyone around, particularly those who are helped by OBV and the Bridge to Happiness Center, and those continue to live in unfortunate realities and unhappiness.
It was a beautiful Sunday morning, a day where after a long week of work, we'd like nothing more than to relax with our friends and family, head off to the movies, and organize dinners and social events. Of course, for the One Body Village Vietnam family (Nhip Cau Hanh Phuc), we had other plans: To travel to the Thai Thien Parish in Dong Nai province, and give a seminar on basic sexual education, and prevention of child sex abuse.
Leaving at 5.30 in the morning from district 1, our group of 5 arrived at the Thai Thien Parish at 8.15am. Father Bao and the Youth Group leaders, Sunday School teachers had worked hard in the month leading up to this event to ensure a good turn out. The kids were divided into two age groups: the 6-12 year olds, and the 13-18 year olds.

The Bridge to Happiness Center (OBV VN) initial media tour plan didn't include Truong Gia Mo Middle School. It was added at the last minute (89 minutes before departure) based on a sudden request from the head of the Bridge to Happiness Center. Many of the teens here have been lured into the world of drugs and prostitution, which eventually lead to dropping out of school. For that reason, the Board asked us to come speak with them.
So Quynh Ngoc (OBV Manager), The Khanh (Project Manager), Dr. Duy An (President), Nguyen Van Binh (Director) speaking with the audience.
The group left at 6:30AM from Can Tho, and after over 3 hours of travel, we finally arrived at the destination. Surprisingly, even after we arrived nearly 30 minutes late, the teachers and students were there waiting to greet us. A TV reporter from the local Chau Doc news was also there. Our apologies were reciprocated with a warm applause from the audience.
